Booklets are provided for you to follow along in prayer as we walk spiritually with Jesus through His 14 agonizing “Stations of the Cross”. Each “Station” represents events in Jesus’ life especially His walk on the Via Dolorosa (meaning the sorrowful way). This is the route the Roman soldiers forced Jesus to take through Jerusalem to his crucifixion. As we meditate on each of the fourteen stations, we are reminded that we do not suffer alone, that Jesus suffers with us. The booklet is usually divided into parts. The leader reads before each station and the congregation is asked to kneel and pray, then read aloud as a group. The booklets give guidance as to the flow of the devotion. At the conclusion, we ask you leave in silence out of respect for those who may wish to remain to pray.
